WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Mike Turner (OH-10), head of the U.S. delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, issued the following statement upon Hungary’s approval of the Kingdom of Sweden’s membership to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO):
“As head of the U.S. delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, I would like to thank Hungary for approving Sweden’s membership to NATO. For over 240 years, Sweden has been a vital partner of the United States in myriad international agreements. Soon, as an allied NATO partner who already commits two percent of their GDP to defense, Sweden will bring its advanced military capabilities and infrastructure to the Alliance in support of global security and peace.”
