Turner wants to keep ‘scrap dealers’ away from GM-Moraine site
MORAINE — U.S. Rep. Mike Turner wants buildings filled with productive jobs at the former General Motors plant here, not a vacant lot. In that regard, he’s on the same page with city leaders, who are concerned that demolition companies are among those making offers for the former plant and surrounding property.

Turner seeks Obama’s help in protecting GM plant
U.S. Rep Mike Turner, R-Centerville, wants assurances from President Barack Obama’s administration that the former General Motors assembly plant in Moraine will not be demolished and sold for scrap. Turner, who made the request in a letter to President Obama, said tearing down the facilities at the site does not mesh with a redevelopment plan in the works since last year. That plan was funded by the U.S. Department of Commerce and has the blessing of local and state leaders. The plea came after local officials voiced concern the plant may go to a buyer
