Today, Congressman Mike Turner (OH-10) supported a package of bills aimed at combating Russian aggression.

“As a former President of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, I have witnessed rapidly increasing Russian aggression,” said Turner. “In recent years, we have seen the Russian annexation of Crimea; the Kremlin’s murder and attempted murders of Russian citizens for speaking out against Putin; and Russia’s continued interference in democratic elections, including here in the United States. I stand in strong support of continued and increased pressure on the Kremlin to hold Vladimir Putin accountable for his reprehensible actions.”

Turner currently serves as Chairman of the Defense and Security Committee of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, a senior member of the House Intelligence Committee, and Ranking Member of the House Armed Services Subcommittee on Strategic Forces.

The bills Turner supported today to hold Russia accountable include:

  • H. Res. 156: Resolution calling for accountability and justice for the assassination of Boris Nemtsov, a vocal public opponent of the Kremlin regime who was murdered.
  • H.R. 596: Crimea Annexation Non-recognition Act, prohibiting the U.S. from recognizing Russia’s annexation of Crimea.
  • H.R. 1404: Vladimir Putin Transparency Act, strengthens U.S. response to Russian interference by providing transparency on the corruption of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
  • H.R. 1617: KREMLIN Act, requiring intelligence assessments of the intentions of the political leadership of the Russian Federation.
