DAYTON, OH– Last Week, Rep. Mike Turner (OH-10), alongside Rep. French Hill (AR-02), Rep. Steve Cohen (TN-09), and Rep. Terri Sewell (AL-07), introduced the Shift Back to Society Act (H.R. 5016). This legislation provides grants to HBCU's to create educational and career opportunities for previously incarcerated individuals reintegrating back into society. WASHINGTON, DC - "President Biden's speech ignored the reality that Afghanistan will now be a sanctuary for terrorist groups. He has passed this terrorist threat onto future Presidents and generations," said Turner. "Furthermore, Biden continues to underplay the situation in Afghanistan by calling it merely a "situation" or referring to it as "messy." He fails to comprehend that his poor judgement has made American citizens less safe." concluded Turner.

"Ever since Biden hastily left Afghanistan in the middle of the night, I have been calling this situation more of a surrender than a withdrawal. The Biden administration left a weakened Afghan national military by ripping the US and NATO forces from the integrated chain of command," said Turner.

"The big difference between what the Trump administration was going to do and the Biden administration is that the Trump administration was negotiating with the Taliban, and the US would have been the enforcer of any agreement. Biden has left with zero contingency plans. There is no peace, even in the areas in which the Taliban had controlled previously."

Congressman Mike Turner (OH-10) announced that he will serve as a cosponsor of the bipartisan Recognizing and Ensuring Taxpayer Access to Infrastructure Necessary for GPS and Satellite Communications Act 'RETAIN' which was introduced by Rep. Jim Cooper (D-TN) today. This legislation requires Ligado, a private American satellite communications company, to cover the cost for correcting any interference their operations create for the public or private sector.

The Brownfields Redevelopment Tax Incentive Reauthorization Act of 2021 Restores Federal Tax Deduction to Spur Economic Development and Strengthen Local Communities

Washington, DC–– Today, Representative Mike Turner (OH-10) reintroduced the Brownfields Redevelopment Tax Incentive Reauthorization Act, alongside Mikie Sherrill (NJ-11). This bipartisan bill restores an expired tax incentive allowing developers to fully deduct the costs of environmental remediation of brownfields in the year the costs were incurred. This legislation was first introduced in 2019.
