Federal Communications Commission (FCC) officials admitted Thursday on a House Armed Services Committee conference call that, despite conditions placed on Ligado in the FCC Order to mitigate the concerns of harmful interference to GPS receivers, 13 federal agencies and departments remain opposed the FCC's Ligado decision. In addition, FCC officials indicated no one at the FCC received any classified briefings from these agencies on the harm that could be done if Ligado's application was approved.

Today, the Department of the Air Force announced its request for nominations for locations to host the United States Space Command. The U.S. Space Command will have approximately 1400 military and civilian personnel working in the headquarters once established. The Dayton area will compete to have the headquarters placed in our community.

Today Rep. Mike Turner (OH-10) and Rep. Tim Ryan (OH-13) led a bipartisan letter to the President urging him to restore the pension plans of Delphi Salaried Retirees before any further coronavirus relief for the auto industry is distributed. More specifically, Turner urged the President and the Administration to direct that the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation (PBGC) settle pending litigation over the Delphi Salary plans and request that the PBCG restore lost pensions.

Congressman Mike Turner (OH-10) will introduce this week the Employer and Employee COVID Protection Act to eliminate barriers to reopening businesses, get Americans back to work, and empower employees to decide for themselves if they feel safe in their workplace. This legislation will provide all complying businesses with immunity from civil lawsuits if one of their employees contracts coronavirus after states permit businesses to reopen.

The Greater Dayton Regional Transit Authority (GDRTA) is set to receive a federal award worth $75,046,492 from the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) through the CARES Act. This grant award will allow the GDTRA to navigate the impact of the coronavirus pandemic and fund continued public transportation services to keep the Dayton region moving during this uncertain time. The allocation of these grants was made possible by Congressman Mike Turner's (OH-10) support of the CARES Act.

Wright State Research Institute (WSRI), located in Dayton, OH is to receive $11.6 million in federal funding. The award is part of the Air Force's Academic Partnership and Engagement Experiment (APEX) program, which aims to address priority research requirements of the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL). The funding will focus on innovative approaches to technology transfer issues and will foster collaboration between AFRL and WSRI. This award was made possible by provisions Congressman Mike Turner (OH-10) included in the FY 2020 Defense Appropriations.

Five Rivers Health Centers and the Community Health Centers of Greater Dayton are to receive federal grants worth $943,000 and $818,000, respectively, to prevent the spread and mitigate the damage of coronavirus. The allocation of these grants was made possible by Congressman Mike Turner's (OH-10) support of the CARES Act.

Cornerstone Research Group, located in Miamisburg, Ohio, is now under contract with the Missile Defense Agency to manufacture high temperature, carbon-carbon composite materials that enable advanced hypersonic technologies. This $7 million contract was made possible by provisions Congressman Mike Turner (OH-10) included in the FY 2020 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) and in FY 2020 Defense Appropriations.
