Washington, DC –Today, Congressman Mike Turner, Chairman of the U.S. delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly (NATO PA), released the following statement on the Crimean referendum to make the Ukraine territory part of Russia.

"I am deeply disturbed by the events that have taken place today in Crimea. Today's supposed vote to join the Russian Federation was nothing more than a sham and a flagrant violation of international law.

No legislative body can take a vote of free will to join another nation when they are facing invading tanks from that nation.

Rep. Mike Turner Statement on Russian Military Action in Ukraine

Washington, D.C – Today, Representative Mike Turner (OH-10) made the following statement about the Russian military action in Ukraine:

"As the President has sought secret deals with Russia, abandoned portions of our missile defense system, reduced our nuclear weapons capabilities and significantly cut our military through his sequester, Russia, China, Iran and North Korea see a weak United States.

This is a very dangerous message to send to the world and especially to Russia, who seeks to regain lost territories from the former Soviet Union.
