In 2021, Turner secured $456,500 in federal grant funding for the St. Mary Development Corporation and helped the project developer navigate federal deadlines and requirements for the project.

WASHINGTON, DC - Congressman Mike Turner, on May 20, 2022, graduated from Georgetown University with a Doctorate in Liberal Studies. The focus of Turner's research is urban economic development.

Turner, the former two-term Mayor of Dayton Ohio, enrolled in the part-time program to continue his work and research on improving the economic performance and sustainability of urban core cities. His Doctoral thesis, entitled: "Urban Fail," reviews the historical evolution of federal urban development policy and how current policies inhibit capitalistic development outcomes in American urban core cities.
