Today Congressman Mike Turner released the following statement on the confirmation of General (Ret.) Lloyd Austin as Secretary of Defense:

"Congratulations to General (Ret.) Lloyd Austin on his confirmation as U.S. Secretary of Defense. Safeguarding our national security and the future of Wright-Patterson Air Force Base remain my top priorities," said Turner. "With that in mind, I look forward to continuing my work with the Department of Defense under Secretary Austin's leadership and welcoming him to our community and NASIC."

Today Congressman Michael Turner announced that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has awarded over $360,000 in federal grants to the Five Rivers Health Centers and Community Health Centers of Greater Dayton. Five Rivers Health Centers will receive $180,360 and the Community Health Centers of Greater Dayton will receive $184,920. The Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplement Appropriations Act (CRRSAA), which Congressman Turner supported, funded the health cluster program that provided these grants.

Congressman Mike Turner's (OH-10) Fostering Stable Housing Opportunities Act has been included in the Omnibus spending bill that passed the House of Representatives earlier this evening. This housing legislation provides federal housing assistance for youths aging out of foster care.

Congressman Mike Turner (OH-10) cosponsored H.R. 2328, The Community Health Investment, Modernization, and Excellence Act of 2019, which has been included in the Omnibus Package that passed the House of Representatives earlier today. This legislation aims to end surprise medical billing by shielding patients from excessive costs given by out of network healthcare services. Meanwhile, it allows for fair negotiation of outstanding costs between insurers and medical providers through an independent dispute resolution process.

With the support of Congressman Mike Turner (OH-10), the House passed an omnibus funding and COVID-19 relief bill. This legislation helps Americans navigate the healthcare and financial hardships that have resulted from the coronavirus pandemic, and also funds the government for the upcoming year.
