DAYTON, OHIO – Today, Congressman Mike Turner (OH-10) announced more than $35,000 in federal funds has been awarded to a local fire department in the Miami Valley. The City of Dayton, located in Congressman Turner’s district, was allocated funds under the Department of Homeland Security’s Fiscal Year 2023 Assistance to Firefighters Grants (AFG) Program.

“Our firefighters and first responders represent the very best of our community. I am proud to have secured federal funding to bolster the important work of our exemplary first responders in Dayton,” said Congressman Mike Turner. “I will continue to advocate for the Miami Valley’s first responders in Congress. These funds from the Department of Homeland Security will significantly enhance the capabilities of our local first responders.”

City of Dayton: $39,999.04

Total Funding Secured for Local Fire Departments: $39,999.04

Background:

AFG awards are administered by the Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the U.S. Fire Administration. Fire Prevention & Safety Grants are used to support projects that enhance the safety of the public and firefighters from fire and related hazards.

Since 2015, more than $11 million has been awarded from the AFG to fire and EMS departments in the Dayton area.
