WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Mike Turner (OH-10) announced $44 million in 2024 Community Project Funding priorities he secured for the Miami Valley region passed the House of Representatives.
“Today I secured over $44 million in federal funding for critical projects in our community,” said Congressman Mike Turner. “This funding bolsters our economy, strengthens our infrastructure, and increases the Miami Valley’s competitiveness throughout our state. I will continue to work closely with my colleagues to make certain that the critical community projects that are important to Ohio families, workers, and small businesses are funded.”
In the past three years, Congressman Turner has secured $135 million in federal funds for projects across the Miami Valley.
OH-10 Wins Approved Today:
1.) $18,000,000 for the Acquisition Management Complex Phase V Planning and Design located at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base
- The Acquisition Management Complex at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base is beginning Phase V which is a 214,000 square foot facility that will streamline organizations which are serving the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC). This funding will be used for the planning and design of this facility.
2.) $4,000,000 for the City of Dayton for Wright Factory Improvements
- In spring of 2023, the Wright Brothers’ Airplane Factory was damaged in a fire. This funding will go towards the restoration and rehabilitation of the site.
3.) $4,000,000 for the City of Dayton Water Department for the Expansion of the Dayton Water Quality Laboratory
- This laboratory is one of the region’s leaders in PFAS contaminant testing. Funding for this project will go towards expanding the facility’s capacity and capability for water testing.
4.) $3,500,000 for the Five Rivers Metro Parks to Improve the Dayton MetroParks
- This funding will assist with the renovation of electrical, plumbing, mechanical, lighting systems, construction of interior and exterior programmatic space at the MetroPark.
5.) $3,000,000 for St. Mary’s Development Coalition to restore the Veterans Affairs History Center
- This funding will assist with the renovation and restoration of two historic buildings. These buildings will house the nation’s only records and archives center related to veterans’ affairs.
6.) $2,000,000 for the University of Dayton’s Microsystem Lab
- The University of Dayton’s Microsystems Workforce and Research Center will enhance education and research opportunities in an experiential platform for workforce training. The new equipment will allow the University of Dayton and its partners to provide specialized training and collaboration with experts to accelerate advanced manufacturing success in our region.
7.) $2,000,000 for Sinclair Community College’s Unmanned Aerial Systems Training Initiative
- To serve the needs of the growing UAS industry, Sinclair is working to expand their UAS fleet to include aircraft over 55 pounds. The expansion encourages research and development, academic instruction, and hands-on training.
8.) $2,000,000 for the Dayton Childrens’ Foundation for a Dayton Children’s Youth Development Center
- This funding will facilitate the construction of a new three-story facility for additional access to care for outpatient mental services.
9.) $1,500,000 for Beavercreek Township to improve the Valley Bell Connector
- The Valley Bell Connector connects commuters from Greene County to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. This project improves safety and fosters economic development in our community.
10.) $1,500,000 for the City of Riverside's Woodman Phase 4 Project
- This funding will improve safety near Wright-Patterson Air Force Base’s perimeter security fence and address infrastructure issues on the road.
11.) $1,400,000 for the Boys and Girls Club of Dayton
- Funding for this project will improve current facilities and build new community spaces to better serve Dayton youth.
12.) $1,000,000 for Harrison Township’s American Carco Site Remediation
- The American Carco property was home to a metal plating facility where chemicals were released into the ground affecting soil, groundwater, and adjacent wellfield. This funding will seal and decontaminate the site.
13.) $750,000 for Tri-Cities Regional Wastewater Authority and its Wastewater Management Facility Expansion
- The Tri-Cities Wastewater Treatment Plant serves 67,000 residents and thousands of businesses in Southwest Ohio. The funding will increase the gallon per day capacity to improve the region’s economic and community development goals.
14.) $200,000 for the Army Corps of Engineers for Great Miami River Flooding Improvements Phase 1 Project
- This funding will be used to support improvements to critical flood protection infrastructure in Dayton and Miamisburg.
