WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Mike Turner (OH-10) released the following statement on the passing of Congressman Gerry Connolly:

“I am heartbroken by the passing of my friend and colleague, Congressman Gerry Connolly. Gerry was a devoted public servant who spent over three decades serving the people of Virginia and our nation with unmatched dedication and purpose.

“Over the years, Gerry and I developed a strong friendship through our service together as members of the U.S. delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly. His leadership as President of NATO-PA was marked by clarity and conviction, especially in the face of Russia’s brutal invasion of Ukraine. Gerry was also a steadfast advocate in his pursuit of a Centre for Democratic Resilience at NATO headquarters, prioritizing the strength of democratic institutions across the alliance.

“Gerry’s legacy is one of intellect, integrity, and relentless dedication to the people of Virginia’s 11th District and to our allies abroad. His absence will be deeply felt, both in Congress and on the international stage.

“My thoughts and prayers are with his family, staff, and all who had the privilege of working alongside him.”
