“Section 1237 of the FY12 National Defense Authorization Act, which I authored, makes clear that the United States has no intention of abandoning our commitments to our NATO allies. As Chairman of the U.S. Delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, I know our NATO allies interest in this pledge, especially when budget decisions are forcing the U.S. to withdraw much of our conventional presence in Europe.”
