Congressman Turner, Chairman of the Tactical Air and Land Forces Subcommittee of the House Armed Services Committee, released the following statement after sending President Obama a letter urging him to finally support efforts to end sequestration after both presidential candidates have announced they do not support the sequester:
“Both the nominees have called for an end to the sequester. In fact, Hillary Clinton recently stated, ‘The sequester makes our country less secure, let’s end it and get a budget deal that supports America’s military, our families, and our country.’ I urge President Obama to be mindful that the 2017 budget will be carried out by the next administration. It is crucial that the next administration has the tools needed to address the full scope of our national security priorities.”
