DAYTON, OHIO – Today, Congressman Mike Turner (OH-10) announced that more than $440,000 in federal funds has been awarded to local fire departments in the Miami Valley. The City of Dayton, the City of Riverside and the City of Brookville, all located in Turner’s district, were allocated funds under the Department of Homeland Security’s Fiscal Year 2023 Assistance to Firefighters Grants (AFG) Program.
“I cannot think of more deserving first responders to be awarded this federal funding than those located right here in our own community,” said Congressman Mike Turner. “I am pleased to continue advocating for increased funding for some of the bravest and most courageous individuals among us. The allocated funds, awarded by the Department of Homeland Security, will be a great asset to these departments.”
FY23 Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program Awards:
City of Dayton: $326,406.67
City of Riverside: $78,792.72
City of Brookville: $34,857.14
Total Funding Secured for Local Fire Departments: $440,056.53
Background:
AFG awards are administered by the Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the U.S. Fire Administration. The grants are used to fund critically needed resources to equip and train emergency personnel, enhance efficiencies and support community resilience.
Since 2015, more than $11 million has been awarded from the AFG to fire and EMS departments in the Dayton area.
