WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Mike Turner (OH-10) released the following statement on Rep. Gerry Connolly’s (VA-11) decision not to seek reelection to the U.S. House of Representatives:
“Gerry Connolly is a dear friend and dedicated public servant who has spent more than 30 years serving our nation. Over the past decade, Gerry and I have forged a close friendship through our work together as members of the U.S. delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly.
“As President of NATO-PA, Gerry led with strength and dignity during one of the most challenging moments in recent history — the launch of Russia's illegal invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. Additionally, Gerry has been relentless in his pursuit of establishing a Centre for Democratic Resilience at NATO headquarters, which will recognize the importance of strengthening democratic institutions across NATO allies and partner nations. His unwavering commitment to upholding democracy against authoritarianism should be applauded.
“Gerry has had a stellar career serving the people of Virginia’s 11th district. My prayers are with him and his family as he courageously battles this disease.”
