Last week, the president appeared before Congress and the nation to deliver his first State of the Union address. During his speech, he presented his legislative agenda and national priorities to the American people. The president was correct in making job creation the central focus of his speech. Unfortunately, the president's strategy for creating jobs and growing our economy by expanding government spending and continuing to flaunt the federal stimulus is the wrong approach. .

The annual competition was created in 1982 as a way to showcase the artistic talents of young people throughout the country. The goal of the contest is to support and promote the arts, and encourage artistic expression in our youth. .

He spoke of a time when people would "not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character." Many years after Dr. King's "Promised Land" speech, he would be pleased with the progress our nation has made but would urge us to continue the march toward the "Promised Land." .

As we approach the end of the year, our thoughts turn toward Christmas. We reflect on the events of the year just passed, give thanks for all that we have, and take pleasure in the company of family and friends. It is also a time to reflect on the true meaning of Christmas beyond the crowded shopping malls, the images of Santa Claus, and the exchanging of gifts. .
