Congressman Mike Turner (OH-10) released the following statement after participating in the first hour of Kurt Volker's testimony in front of the House Intelligence Committee:
Reps. Mike Turner (R-OH), Gerry Connolly (D-VA), and Peter King (R-NY) introduced H.R. 4264, the Safe Homefront Act, to ensure that no U.S. servicemember with a felony-level domestic violence conviction is able to legally purchase firearms. This bipartisan legislation would codify and strengthen the Department of Defense's (DOD) policies regarding the reporting of domestic violence convictions and Military Protective Orders (MPOs) to the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS). Also, this legislation would give military commanders peace of mind that no convicted domestic abuser who is currently legally restricted from purchasing firearms goes unreported.

Congressman Mike Turner (OH-10) released the following statement after opposing the passage of the National Defense Authorization Act of Fiscal Year 2020 in the House:
"This bill makes our country less safe, and I could not support it.

I look forward to working with my colleagues in conference to craft a final bill that supports our troops and keeps our country safe."
