Washington, D.C. –Today, Congressman Michael Turner (R-OH), former President of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, and Congressman Gerry Connolly (D-VA), Chairman of the U.S. Delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, introduced a resolution expressing the sense of the House of Representatives that the United States remains committed to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). The bipartisan resolution reaffirms the United States' commitment to NATO and its Article 5 collective defense commitment, calls for continued support of democratic institutions, supports maintained progress towards commitments made at the Wales Summit, and recommits U.S.

Today, the Congressional Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) Caucus Co-Chairs, Reps. Mike Turner (OH-10), John B. Larson (CT-01), Marc A. Veasey (TX-33), and Martha Roby (AL-02), announced record support for the F-35 Program, with 103 bipartisan cosigners for the FY2020 appropriations and authorization letter. The letter requests funding for 102 F-35 aircraft.

Today, Representatives Mike Turner (R-OH) and Joyce Beatty (D-OH), and U.S. Senators Rob Portman (R-OH) and Sherrod Brown (D-OH), introduced legislation to extend the authorization for the National Aviation Heritage Area (NAHA) for seven years. The NAHA spans 54 acres and eight counties throughout western Ohio, with a large presence in Dayton, the home of the Wright Brothers. There are a variety of cultural sites within the NAHA, including the Dayton Aviation Heritage National Park, Armstrong Air and Space Museum, Huffman Prairie Flying Field, and Grimes Flying Field, as well as resources related to the Wright Brothers.

Congressman Mike Turner (OH-10) introduced legislation today to provide Delphi Salaried Retirees and other eligible individuals the choice of continuing their current health care, set to expire at the end of this year under Obamacare. The Health Coverage Tax Credit Reauthorization Act would allow eligible individuals to remain within the Health Coverage Tax Credit (HCTC) program past the program's December 31, 2019 termination date, or upon leaving the program.

"The Delphi Salaried Retirees had their pensions unjustly slashed, and now are at risk of losing their health care coverage," said Turner. "This legislation would ensure that they continue to receive current coverage."

Congressman Mike Turner (OH-10) wrote today to Dayton Mayor Nan Whaley supporting a ceremonial washing of Courthouse Square the day after an outside hate group intends to rally there in May.

"These vile hate groups have no place in our community," said Turner. "We should not have one eye see or one ear hear this outside group's hateful message. In order to ensure the safety of our community, I encourage Mayor Whaley to work with me and other local leaders to hold a ceremonial washing of Courthouse Square the day after this hate group's rally. The Dayton region must remain a unified community of peace."
