Today, Congressman Mike Turner (OH-3) released the following statement upon the change of command at the Air Force Materiel Command (AFMC). General Donald J. Hoffman, who has honorably served the country for 38 years, will transition out of the role of commander. General Janet Wolfenbarger, a native of Southwest Ohio, will oversee the major command headquartered at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.
“I would like to congratulate General Hoffman for his work at Wright-Patt. Throughout the time of his service he has been someone the community and its leaders could count on. I wish him well in his future work, and look forward to a chance to work together again.
“I've had the opportunity to meet with General Wolfenbarger on many occasions in her different capacities at Wright -Patt, and I know she will follow in General Hoffman's legacy of service and commitment to the success of the base. With looming sequestration cuts and tightening budgets, her work will be all the more important. Furthermore, her commissioning as the first female four-star General in the Air Force is a model for the daughters of our community to follow.”
