Yesterday, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base (WPAFB) announced it is working to infuse third party investment into the installation’s programmatic interest through an Enhanced Use Lease (EUL). Since October 2019, Congressman Mike Turner (OH-10) has been working with WPAFB, the Dayton Development Coalition, and Air Force leadership to permit the use of an EUL to make it possible for developers to lease unused land at Wright-Patt and build property on it for commercial use.

“Last year, I worked with the Dayton Development Coalition and Wright-Patt leadership to find opportunities for development, growth, and job creation on and around the Base,” said Turner. “Our collaboration resulted in a proposal that Air Force leaders consider using an EUL to develop land owned by the installation. As a result of this advocacy, we are grateful for the Air Force’s announcement it will undertake the process to use an EUL as the mechanism to lease its land for commercial development. I look forward to the Request For Information (RFI) release later this year initiating the process. I will continue to collaborate with our community and the Air Force to ensure this development has a meaningful impact for the local economy and our national security.”
