Congressman Mike Turner (OH-10) cosponsored H.R. 2328, The Community Health Investment, Modernization, and Excellence Act of 2019, which has been included in the Omnibus Package that passed the House of Representatives earlier today. This legislation aims to end surprise medical billing by shielding patients from excessive costs given by out of network healthcare services. Meanwhile, it allows for fair negotiation of outstanding costs between insurers and medical providers through an independent dispute resolution process.

“I have long advocated for the end of surprise medical billing for those that are rushed to medical care in out of network healthcare facilities. The language of the Omnibus package not only protects patients from such medical bills, but it also allows doctors and hospitals to have a fair negotiation process with insurers,” said Turner. “I will continue to advocate for fair healthcare prices and practices.”
