WASHINGTON, D.C. — Following a report that the White House had the Pentagon delay a hypersonic missile test, Congressman Mike Turner released the following statement:

“We recently heard from General Hyten that the U.S. has only conducted nine hypersonic missile tests in the last five years, while China has executed hundreds of tests. We are now behind,” said Turner.  “This is especially concerning given President Biden’s reported delay on a long-planned hypersonic missile test he concedes to Putin in advance of their summit. Russia has already deployed hypersonic nuclear weaponsand we now know that China recently tested a nuclear-capable hypersonic missile, surprising the White House. It is imperative that President Biden stop being so risk-averse, stop appeasing Putin and Xi, and move quickly to develop critical capabilities that our adversaries are now perfecting.”
