Congressman Mike Turner (OH-10), the Ranking Member of the House Armed Services Subcommittee on Strategic Forces, released this statement after once again being appointed to negotiate the differences between the House and Senate versions of the FY 2021 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA):
“I am proud to join my fellow lawmakers in a bipartisan and bicameral effort to create the final version of this year’s NDAA,” said Turner. “I will be working in the conference process to maintain steady funding for Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, modernize our nuclear arsenal, improve diversity in the Armed Services and Armed Service Academies, ensure safe water around military installations, and combat sexual assault in the military.”
“As a key member of the House Armed Services Committees and a previous NDAA conferee, Mike has continuously advocated for strong military and veteran support,” said Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy (CA-23). “In Washington, he never stops fighting for the people of Ohio. He played a monumental role in bringing more jobs to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, the single largest employer in Ohio, and an installation critical to our national security. I have no doubt that Mike’s passion for our service members and national defense will make him an excellent addition to the NDAA Conference Committee.”
Turner has been appointed as a conferee every time the NDAA has gone to conference since 2007.
