Congressman Mike Turner (OH-3), Chairman of the House Armed Services Subcommittee on Strategic Forces, released the following statement upon the news that the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (North Korea) has conducted a long-range missile test:

“Today’s missile launch is yet another indication that the Administration’s policies are not working. It is time for this Administration to get serious, and understand that states like North Korea are the reason we must have robust military capabilities, like national missile defense, to ensure they cannot threaten the American people. One thing is clear, while the President has been weakening our national missile defenses, North Korea and other states have been actively working on their capability to strike the United States. I urge the Administration, given this provocative ballistic missile test, and the promise of another nuclear weapons test, to begin negotiations with our allies in the Pacific about how to further extend and reinforce our nuclear umbrella in the region.”
